I wrote the following poem in memory of Christy and her brother Michael.

Futures Lost
There was a Michael A. Crane, III
Little Michael never had a chance
He was very small
And he couldn't
Breathe
Children's Hospital tried to save him
He clung to life for almost a month
But in the end
An infection stole him away
A piece of me died with him
Not long after
Maybe too soon
My wife and I tired again
Christy Lynn Crane came on Thanksgiving
To our relief all was well
She was beautiful and she could breathe
Lisa and I were thankful
Five months later Christy was dead
They called it SIDS
Sudden Infant Death Syndrome
Just another term for Crib Death
To me
It may as well be called
Devastation
